Zimbabwe through the Zimbabwe Korfball Federation will be hosting the 4th All Africa World Cup Qualifiers from 27-29 April at the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex, in Harare. The qualifiers are expected to be attended by Malawi, South Africa, Zambia and the hosts Zimbabwe.
This is the first time that the Zimbabwe Korfball Federation will be hosting a tournament of this and the two top teams will qualify for the World Cup which will be held in Durban, South Africa in July next year.
“As the hosts we are ready to host the Games but we are still appealing for more support from the Corporate World so that we are able to stage memorable Games. We have approached quite a number of companies to support but so far we are grateful to National AIDS Council which has taken care of the major part of the budget, Telecel Zimbabwe, Proton Bread, and others who came to the party and we are still appealing for more support so that our Games are seamless and enjoyable.
” To this end, we are also appealing to the local community in Chitungwiza to rally behind us as we host these Games I am sure with the masses in the terraces it will make the job easy for us and our quest for qualification will be close.”, said More Moyo the Games CEO.
Meanwhile Team Zimbabwe’s Coach Percy Samugadza was upbeat that his charges will qualify adding that the preparations were almost complete and were now working on the combinations only.
Zimbabwe will play against Zambia in their first match while South Africa will take on Malawi on Friday while ion Saturday Zimbabwe will play against South Africa while Zambia takes Malawi and on Sunday the last day Zimbabwe will take on Malawi while Zambia will take on South Africa.
