Zimbabwe came second in the FBC All Africa Golf Championships which was recently held in Victoria Falls and was attended by 15 countries South Africa came first while Egypt were the bronze winners.
The tournament is held once every two years culminates in the World Amateur Championships which are held once every four years. This was the first time that Zimbabwe hosted this tournament. The Zimbabwe Golf Association organized the tournament and was supported by FBC Limited as the title sponsors. Other anchor sponsors which also came on board included Nyaradzo, Seedco, Tongaat Yullets, Zuva energy, Scweppes and Shearwater.
Team Zimbabwe was represented by David Amm (Team Captain), Tonderai Masunga, Tatenda Makunde, Rasheed Muhommed and Simon Murugweni was the Team Manager while Roger Bylis was the Team Coach.
Lazarus Clever the Zimbabwe Golf Association Secretary General was full of praise for the team as they managed to put up a good performance.
“The event was a resounding success and thanks to the organizing Team and the sponsors who came on board in support of this event which managed to attract 15 countries.
“Our success can also be attributed to the support that we received from the Sports and Recreation Commission, they were totally behind us and we applaud them for their diligent and professional approach”, said Lazarus Clever.
Some of the countries which participated in the tournament include Botswana, Kenya, Egypt and Zambia.
