The Sports and Recreation Commission Board and Management met with the visiting FIFA delegation comprising Messrs Solomon Mudege and David Fani who are Senior Development Manager and Manager Southern Africa respectively. The FIFA delegation was in the company of the ZIFA President Mr Felton Kamambo and Mr Joseph Mamutse the CEO.
The purpose of the visit by the FIFA is to work with ZIFA and assist it deal with the legacy debt overhang which has been hampering their operations. As part of the strategy, FIFA are meeting with the key stakeholders and creditors of ZIFA and mapping the way forward.
“As the SRC we stand ready to work with FIFA in order to ensure that this matter is brought to its logical conclusion. We are also available to assist ZIFA to assist ZIFA so that they are able to meet their mandate”, said Prince Mupazviriho SRC Director General.
ZIFA through its President Felton Kamambo also pledged to comply with the local sport statues under the guidance of the SRC. The SRC was represented by its Board Chairman Gerald Mlotshwa, Commissioner Nigel Munyati, Prince Mupazviriho the Director General and Shepherd Mukanhairi the Acting Director Sport and Recreation Development.
