Zimbabwe National Youth Games (ZNYG)

This programme was inaugurated in 2003 in Bulawayo as a national strategy meant to enhance sport development among the youths who are below the age of 20 and it currently includes the following sporting disciplines: Athletics, Basketball, Boxing, Handball, Football, Netball, Tennis & Volleyball. Hosting of the Games is done on a rotational basis in the provinces since 2003. Athletes who excel in these games are identified by the National Sport Associations and are further nurtured through training and exposure to higher levels of competition. Athletes such as Onisimo Bhasera, Aerial Sibanda (football) Rachel Makoni, Vitalis Chikoko and Alexandra Maseko (Basketball) Ngonidzashe Makusha, Angela Makaha, Gabriel Mvumvure, Namatirai Mavugara (Athletics) are some of the products of the Games.
